Lenny’s Restaurant is a local favorite, located at 301 Colonial Avenue, across from the Colonial Beach Volunteer Fire Department parking lot.
Lenny’s Restaurant is famous for being the most reliable breakfast and lunch restaurant for over 40 years now. With a schedule from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Locals and visitors love to meet up at Lenny’s for early morning breakfast. With a variety of breakfast platters such as Pancakes and Sausage, Eggs, Bacon and Grits, Scrapple and tons more breakfast delights you can enjoy a nice sit down breakfast in their dinner style atmosphere.
Walking into Lenny’s is a lot like going back in time. The restaurant has an old fashioned deli/diner kind of vibe. There are just a few seats at the bar which overlook the kitchen area where you can interact with the staff or cook while waiting for your food to be prepared.
The two dining rooms have several booths that are all situated along large open windows so you can watch what’s going on in the town and who’s coming and going along Colonial Ave.
While you’re there you might catch a glimpse of the volunteer fire fighters, either coming and going from the station for various duties, getting ready for a fundraiser or occasionally responding to a 911 call.
Lenny’s is also next door to one of Colonial Beach’s most progressive shops, Hallmark Tattoo, so it’s a good place to wait if your significant other or your bestie is getting tatted up.
Lenny’s is only a short walk away from Town Hill and the beach but if you drive, there is sufficient parking in the back parking lot and a few spots on the side of the restaurant. You can also catch the Trolley, which stops just a block away at the 7-Eleven.
After the original owner, Lenny, passed away in 2007 the family kept the restaurant going. Since then it has since changed hands but is still called Lenny’s, still serves breakfast and lunch and now extends its hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, staying open until 9 p.m.
Lenny’s serves a variety of American favorites for lunch, including BLTs to BBQ, steak, chicken and a small variety of seafood dishes. Lenny’s also has a wide variety of subs and lunch sandwiches.
Beverages include cold and hot drinks, milk and even V-8 juice.
Lenny’s family friendly atmosphere is enhanced by the absence of any alcoholic beverages. So the only thing in the restaurant that is sauced is the food!
The Diner style booths, a small lunch counter with stools and a few outside tables provide a variety of comfortable seating. And don’t worry about accessibility, there are NO stairs at Lenny’s.
You can also order carry-out for all meals. Lenny’s does not deliver.
Lenny’s has earned a 4.6 out of a 5-star rating, on Google with 414 reviews as of June 2023. Reviews include compliments like “Portions are hearty.” and “Nice little place to grab some good food.”
Famous for breakfast and lunch the owners describe the restaurant as, “A family friendly restaurant providing comfort food for breakfast and lunch!”
But if the Diner’s new owners stay with tradition, that description will have to include a great place to get dinner on the weekends!
