Saint Mary’s
Episcopal Church
A Small Congregation Doing Large Things
St. Mary’s Episcopal Church is the oldest standing church building in Colonial Beach. St. Mary’s red doors and bell tower have been a visible sign of welcome to visitors and townsfolk of all ages and ethnic backgrounds for over 100 years. Our congregation is a diverse mix from all walks of life that include a range of professions from lawyers to watermen.
St. Mary’s Mission Statement is to be a family of God’s people called to love the Lord, serve others, and to be a beacon of hope in our community and the world. As a church, we believe that the Spirit of the Lord is upon us, and that he anoints us to serve the poor and to heal the brokenhearted whoever they may be.

We are a small church, doing large things, in a community where there is a great need.

Our services are on Sunday at 8:00am and 10:30am. We recognize that worship and the Eucharist are what unites us. Outreach, Christian Formation, Church and Worship, Stewardship, Buildings and Grounds, Pastoral Care and Fellowship are priorities for us, as are further described under individual headings.
St. Mary’s Parish Hall operates a Food Pantry on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month, from 10 AM to 12 noon. The Church and Parish Hall are located on the corner of Washington Ave and Dennison Street in the downtown area of Colonial Beach.

The church can be accessed through the front doors facing Dennison Street and the Parish Hall is accessible on Washington Ave.
St. Mary’s property is comprised of three buildings and a memorial garden. Our gothic style church is in the center of town. A columbarium offers the parishioners the option of inurnment in the church. To the left of the church is Hart Hall. This building was previously a residence and erected at the end of the 19th century. Hart Hall houses the Rector and Secretary’s offices, the Thrift Shop, and meeting space. Our Parish Hall is located behind the church and houses a dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, the food pantry, and bathrooms. Five years ago, St. Mary’s purchased adjoining property, thanks in large part to the contribution of a parishioner.
